Hi, I'm Jason Probst
HOME IN HUTCHINSON
Jason Probst was raised in Reno County and has lived in the 102nd Kansas House District for most of his life.
​
Jason graduated from Nickerson High School,
Hutchinson Community College and Baker University
with a Bachelor’s of Science in management.
​
He is an alum of Leadership Reno County, and the Kansas Leadership Center’s “You. Lead. Now.” program.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
He worked at The Hutchinson News, beginning as a production employee on the night shift and eventually becoming a reporter, and later newsroom editor and primary opinion writer. During his time at The News, he steadfastly advocated for the wellbeing of working families who too often struggle to make ends meet. Prior to his work at The News, Jason worked as a machinist at Mega Manufacturing, while furthering his education in the evenings.

In 2017, Jason was honored to step up and complete the term of the late Rep. Patsy Terrell, who died in office serving Hutchinson - a community she loved.
​
Jason has spent his life serving the residents of Hutchinson - in a number of different ways. From serving in the Kansas legislature, on various boards and committees, and simply lending a working hand to neighbors in need.
Because Jason understands the importance and value of community.
FAMILY AND LIFE
There's nothing Jason enjoys more than spending time with his friends and family. You can usually find him around town - at events, the grocery store, or your favorite local restaurant. He has two grown children, Erica and Mitchell, and two granddaughters, Lila and Violet.

Jason is an avid cyclist who enjoys the annual Biking Across Kansas tour of the state, as well as most of the rural highways around Hutchinson. He also enjoys hiking, fishing, and a variety of outdoor activities - and is co-author of the best guide book ever written about fishing in Kansas.

The 102nd District
The 102nd Kansas House District is generally those neighborhoods south of 17th Avenue, to the edge of Carey Park to the south.
West of Monroe, the northern boundary goes up to 25th Avenue.
The eastern boundary extends to Obee Road, and the west boundary reaches to Harding Street.

He's watched this city deal with the pressures that squeeze mid-sized Kansas communities. From rising costs, aging housing stock, an insurance market getting harder to navigate, a state government that ignores our communities.

House District102 is working families, small business owners, educators, retirees, renters and homeowners trying to keep up. They've watched everything get more expensive while the Legislature found time to protect itself from parking tickets and hand out tax breaks to data centers that benefit people who don't live here.
​
Real representation means your legislator has a stake in getting it right.
Not because it's good politics, but because they live with what happens next
